New Year! New You! TipsTo Get Your Focus Back

Happy New Year!  By now everyone is tired of the infomercials for diet and exercise cause we all know that is all we have to worry about in the new year!  Don't get me wrong it is a good time to refocus and recommit to the things that are important to you. 

So here are my tips on how to get your focus back:
  1. Take the time to clean and throw out any junk foods and snacks containing fat and sugar from your cupboards, refrigerator, freezer, office drawers or any hiding places you may have. 
  2. Also remove anything that have preservatives that will allow it to sit on shelves or in the freezer for a length of time.  Remember if it can sit there and not breakdown your body cannot break it down and there goes the belly getting a bit bigger! 
  3. Eat fresh, fresh frozen and colorful.  Lots of fruits , vegetables and lean proteins.
  4. Watch portions!  A deck of cards or easier yet the palm of your hand works for everything.  This includes a serving of pasta!!!
  5.  Drink lots of water.  Don't waste calories on beverages.
  6. Write it down.  Get a small notebook and write down your daily list .  I find this very helpful.
  7. Last but not least-movement every day!  If it is not a workout day- 20 minutes a day of movement.
  8. Relax before bed.   A cup of tea, a bath or a good book will help so you get a good night sleep.
